Child killed in farming accident

NEAR CANTON, MO -- On June 4th, 2009 at approximately 12:50 pm, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, Canton Fire Department and Lewis County Ambulance responded to an emergency call at a rural farm located northwest of Canton, Mo.

At that time it was discovered a child named Ervin D. Hochstetler, age 2, had been involved in a farming accident on the family farm.

The child was transported to Blessing Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:15 pm. 

Based on the preliminary investigation the death appears to be an accident and no foul play is suspected.

The Adams County and Lewis County coroner’s are also currently assisting with the matter. 

Nothing further at this time.
