OTTUMWA, IOWA -- The Beach Ottumwa employees are ready to make a splash this weekend.
Workers are putting the finishing touches on preparing the pools for the season's first visitors.
They’ve been spending the last few days vacuuming the pools and trimming bushes.
Parks and Recreation Director, Gene Rathje, told KTVO that city crews have put in a lot of hours on maintenance since last summer.
"Last year at this time this pool wouldn't hold water, the PA system wouldn't work and we had a few other problems going on. We got all of that fixed and everything's working perfectly now,” Rathje said.
Weather permitting, The Beach opens for the first time on Saturday at noon and will be open until Memorial Day.
Facilities, however, won't permanently open for the summer until early in June.
If you're wondering about prices, they have dropped seven percent this summer over last summer.
