OTTUMWA, IOWA -- The Ottumwa RAGBRAI® housing committee is seeking local homes to host approximately 2,000 riders when RAGBRAI® spends the night in Ottumwa.
The local housing committee is seeking housing for riders who do not wish to camp in the main camp site, located in Greater Ottumwa Park. This can include in-home bed and shower accommodations, camping in your yard with access to showers, or simply providing a space for camping.
Local residents who want to help can find a form on the local committee’s website, www.ottumwaragbrai.com, or pick one up at several locations, including city hall, the Ottumwa Area Chamber of Commerce, Bridge View Center, Hy-Vee, Hy-Vee Drugstore, South Ottumwa Savings Bank, Meridian Credit Union, Community 1st Credit Union, Hedrick Savings Bank, MidWestOne Bank, O’Hara True Value Hardware, Fareway or O’Town Books.
Residents using the on-line option can simply click on Housing link and download the Housing Form. Once filled out, forms can be mailed to the post office box listed or dropped off at Hy-Vee, South Ottumwa Savings Bank, the YMCA, or Community 1st Credit Union on Richmond.
Residents who sign up by May 19 will be entered into a drawing for a $50 gas card from Elliott Oil, a $50 gift card from Hy-Vee, or one of two certificates for a free medium 1-topping pizza donated by Pizza Hut. The drawing will be held on May 21 at 5:30 at the Community RAGBRAI® Party at Bridge View Center.
The committee urges residents to refer all housing requests to the local committee. By going through the formal process, the committee can insure that all guests are registered participants of RAGBRAI® and have signed a waiver releasing homeowners of any liability.
