OTTUMWA, IOWA -- There are just a few short months until crews break ground on the Ottumwa Job Corps Center in June.
Contractors filled a room at the Indian Hills Community College Aviation Center near the Ottumwa Regional Airport for a pre-bid meeting on Tuesday.
Crews had the opportunity to tour the future job corps site and learn more about the job.
Officials said crews would have about two years to build the facility. Both local and out-of-state companies attended the meeting.
“The purpose of this meeting was to give the perspective bidders an overview of the project site, number one, and some of the contractual requirements and some of the characteristics of the project,” said Project Manager Mark Weiser.
Weiser said it would cost more than ten million dollars to build the facility.
He told KTVO that the Job Corps construction will be funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
The U.S. Department of Labor will award the bids for the construction project.
