CENTERVILLE, IOWA -- Appanoose County Law Enforcement is offering a new incentive in an attempt to close a year-old cold case.

Sheriff Gary Anderson announced that information regarding the murder of Chuck Deatsch is now worth $40,000. The initial reward, offered in the immediate aftermath of the murder was $10,000.

Deatsch was murdered on April 28, 2008 in his home near Mystic. Law enforcement knew right away that the shot came from outside of the Deatsch home. However, additional information regarding a suspect or a motive has been much tougher to come by.

The money for the reward is being provided by a variety of sources, including the Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company.

If you have information about the Deatsch case, please call the Appanoose County Sheriff at 641-437-7100 or Crime Stoppers at 641-856-3134.
