DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - State environmental officials say trappers have reached their quota of 200 bobcats, which means the season is over. Fur harvesters were given until early Friday to report any animals that were killed and to receive tags. They were limited to taking only one bobcat. Department of Natural Resources officials say that since the mid-1980s the bobcat population has been increasing, and they are now considered common in parts of southern Iowa. Officials say the otter trapping season remains open with an estimated 400 otters taken by Monday morning. The quota for otters is 500.
