KIRKSVILLE, MO -- A.T. Still University and the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine have expanded their scientific resources by purchasing a state-of-the-art microscope.
The confocal fluorescent microscope cost the university $250,000 and will be used by both faculty and students. The new microscope will also be used by scientists at Truman State University.
“It's going to give us more and more capability to do research that will expand the knowledge and provide meaningful work here in Kirksville, not only for our institution and Truman State University but also to help the community at large,” said Bob Theobald, Chairman of Pharmacology at ATSU-KCOM.
In celebration of the new technology, faculty from each school gathered with local scientists for an Open House Friday afternoon where they looked at the brain of a rat under the microscope.
