OTTUMWA, IOWA -- With election season winding down to its last days, record votes have already been cast in Iowa.
More than 481,000 ballots had been received by county auditor offices across the state so far.
That number tops the previous record by about 20,000 votes.
The fact finding team spoke to Wapello County Auditor, Phyllis Dean to find out if all of the early voting has made election season more hectic for her office, or if she thinks it will help calm things down on Tuesday when the polls are officially open.
"It’s kind of a dual system. We have all of this absentee going on and then on Election Day we have all the machines and all the precincts and precinct officials and things going on out there in the county. So, it’s kind of like running two systems,” Dean said.
Early voting will continue Monday.
And if you live in Iowa, and eligible to vote, you can register at the polls if you are not already registered.
