Applications available for 2013 Missouri Century Farms

KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- The University of Missouri Extension of Adair County is now accepting applications for the 2013 Missouri Century Farms Award. Since 1987, 4,190 farms have been recognized.

Applications are due by May 15th. It costs $65 to apply and there is a $10 processing fee if you send it in after May 1. If you rapplication is accepted, you will receive a medal and a sign commemorating your 100 years of productivity.

“The Century Farm program exists to recognize farms that have been in a family for over 100 years and the line of ownership can be children, grandchildren, siblings, neices, nephews, and 40 acres of that original farm must be part of the current farm today and it must make a financial contribution to the present far,” said Jennifer Schutter.
