OTTUMWA, IOWA -- It houses artifacts that date back all the way back to the Civil War.

The Wapello County Historical Museum has been a staple in Ottumwa for more than 50 years.  Just recently, the museum finished getting electrical upgrades.

It was 1958 when the museum was last remodeled at that time the electricity panels were not updated.

For safety reasons, it was vital for these upgrades to be made.

“So we got looking for some money. We applied for a Legacy Grant and Wapello County foundation grant and got to work on hiring an electrical engineer so we knew what we were doing and got the new panels put in so now we're ready to go ahead and run new plug-ins and lighting fixtures,” said Phyllis Dean, treasurer of the Wapello County Historical Society Board.

Dean invites everyone to come take a step back in time and come visit the museum.
