KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- As phase two of the Franklin Street projects breaks ground, Kirksville City Council members met with Truman State University's president, Dr. Troy Paino.

The council and Paino discussed the Franklin Street Project--and the blueprint that project will have on Truman students.

Kirksville City Engineer Edward Ieans says the project will help the city and Truman's campus.

"In this phase of the project, it will have a median with plantings in the middle. The purpose of the median is to calm the traffic or slow traffic down so it's mainly to be friendly to pedestrians, which is the college students that walk between the student union and the recreation center."

President Paino said he is excited for the project and he's sure it'll be a great improvement for Kirksville and Truman's campus.

The phase two will beautify the downtown area while enhancing the connection between Truman's campus and Kirksville's Downtown.
