OTTUMWA, IOWA -- West Music in Ottumwa teamed up with the Lord’s Cupboard on Thursday, a day that benefited both musicians and the food-insecure.

A donation of four canned goods or a $5 donation got you brand new strings on your guitar, as well as any minor adjustments needed for free.

“So far it has been a pretty successful day. I’m working on my sixth guitar now, halfway through the day and we've had a lot of people call in that will be coming in later this afternoon. And we have some that will drop them off overnight and I’ll finish them off in the morning if I need to if we have too but I’m going to make sure it gets taken care of. So far we have a bin full of a lot of food and some cash donations so far so we're considering this a success and it’s just going to get better and better as the day goes on,” said Adam Kulmatycki, West Music employee.

Kulmatycki said he is confident that last year’s record of restringing 13 guitars can be beat and that even more donations will be collected for the Lord’s Cupboard.
