OTTUMWA, IOWA -- For all you guitar players out there, you won’t want to miss this event; West Music is hosting a food drive and guitar restring event this Thursday.

All donations will be donated to the Lord’s Cupboard in Ottumwa.

By bringing in four canned goods or non-perishable food items or a $5 donation, you can get one 6-string acoustic steel-string guitar or one 6-string electric guitar strung for free.

“We're partnering with D'Addario Strings and they pretty much send us all of the strings for us to use at the event and it's for electric and acoustic guitars and I believe we are also doing base guitars. We started I think, the first one we did at this location was last year and seemed to go over really, really well. We had a large donation amount for the Lord’s Cupboard in monetary and canned goods,” said Heather Sumner, West Music employee.

The event goes from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday at West Music. If you would like to donate and not have a guitar restrung, Sumner said all are welcome to come.
