OTTUMWA, IOWA -- The 9-1-1 call reporting that Lisa Techel had been shot was placed by her husband Seth Techel.

According to the documents released by the Wapello County Sheriff's Department Thursday afternoon, Techel called 9-1-1 at approximately 5:23 a.m. on May 26 to report that his wife had been shot and wasn't breathing.

Techel would later tell law enforcement officers that he was in the shower, and heard what he thought to be a gunshot. He went to a nearby bedroom where he discovered Lisa suffering from a gunshot wound.

During a search of the property around the Techel residence, investigators found a .12 gauge shotgun belonging to a former roommate of the Techels.

Wapello County Sheriff Don Kirkendall did not offer a motive for the shooting, but the affadavit attached to the arrest warrant indicates that Seth Techel may have been romantically involved with another woman and that the Techels' marriage may have been on the rocks.

Investigators found a pre-paid cell phone that suggested communications with another woman. The cell phone indicated that Seth Techel indicated he wasn't happy with his marriage and that it would be better in a couple of weeks.

Records also indicate that investigators do not believe that Lisa Techel could have inflicted the wound herself. Techel was 17 weeks pregnant when she died.

Seth Techel was arrested on Wednesday night. He has been charged with one count of First Degree Murder and one count of Nonconsensual Termination of a Pregnancy.

He remains in jail on a $750,000 cash only bond.
