KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- Alzheimer’s disease is one form of Dementia that gradually gets worse over time.
It affects memory, thinking and behavior.
The cause of the disease is not clear.
Genes and environmental factors seem to play a role.
There are several signs of Alzheimer’s according to Highland Crest, assisted living by Americare Administrator Carol Daugherty.
“(Some signs are) memory loss that disrupts daily life, difficult completing familiar task, confusion with time or place, decreased or poor judgment…misplacing things and not being able to retrace your steps,” Daugherty said.
A skilled health care provider can often diagnose the disease.
Medicines are used to help slow down the rate at which symptoms become worse.
