LANCASTER, MO. -- There's a new prosecutor in town, and the criminals should beware.

Heartland defense attorney Lindsay Gravett began her term Monday as the new Schuyler County Prosecutor.

Gravette won the position back in the November general election, but reality finally settled in Monday as she moved into her new office at the Schuyler County Courthouse.

It has been a bit overwhelming so far, but Gravett is getting organized and ready to serve the people of the county.

"I want to do the best job as I can. I want to make it as safe as a community as possible. Follow the Constitution of the U.S. And Missouri, I take that seriously. Individuals have to abide by the law or otherwise they will be prosecuted," Gravett said.

Gravett said that with her experience as a defense attorney, it's going to be very interesting to be on the other side of the courtroom.

Gravett also said it has been the support of her family and friends that has helped her get this far in her law career.
