KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Some Heartland kids had fun in the library on Saturday while learning the importance of reading.
The Adair County Library and the Truman State University Chapter of The National Education Association held it's annual Read Across America Day.
Children of all ages and their families participated in a variety of activities from games, crafts and reading books from famous children author Dr. Seuss such as "The Cat In The Hat," "Horton Hears A Who," and "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish."
Organizers wanted to show kids that reading can be fun.
"Dr. Seuss is a part of everyone's childhood, and it allows a chance to start reading and have a lot of imagination and creativity," said Megan Kalder of Truman State Chapter of The National Education Association.
Read Across America is an annual event across the nation and is held around Dr. Seuss' birthday, which is next week.
