FAIRFIELD, IOWA -- Fairfield is one of nine small towns in Iowa to be chosen to be a Blue Zones designation site, and along with gaining the cooperation from schools, businesses and more, the city wants to hear from the community.

The Power Nine committee is currently working on assembling a blue print, or plan, that will help them receive Blue Zones designation.

These meetings will not only inform the public and answer any questions they may have, but, more importantly, receive feedback from the community.

"Blue Zones is not about Wellmark and the governor, it really has to do with the community and it has to do with Fairfield and Fairfield has to assume responsibility for itself to become a healthier place to live, work and play," said Ken Daley, a member of the Blue Zones Committee.

There will be two community meetings; both held at the Arts and Convention Center. The first is Tuesday, February 19 at 6:30 p.m., and the second on Saturday, February 23rd at 9:30 a.m.

Daley said anyone and everyone is welcome to attend, whether you know nothing about the Blue Zones project or have been involved from the start.
