KIRKSVILLE, MO -- The single-digits greeted us when we rolled out of bed this morning.

We woke up Monday morning to temperatures in the single digits, but with the wind chill it felt like 15 degrees below zero.

People are wearing multiple layers with scarfs, gloves, sweaters and coats.

Coffee shop owners said they have seen a large number of people buying hot soup, chili and hot chocolate to try to help stay warm.

Temperatures are set to go down once again to night with lows near zero but with the winds dying down, it is not going to feel as cold but it is still going to be a cold night ahead so once again keep yourselves warm. Of course don't forget your pets and check on the elderly to make sure they keep warm as well as we continue feeling this arctic blast here in the Heartland.
