OTTUMWA, IOWA -- We’ve all been there, shelling out more and more money for upkeep on our cars.
And while it may be frustrating at the time, it could save you a lot more in the long run, especially during the winter months.
We talked to the experts on Wednesday about what needs to be done to keep your car working properly and safely during the winter season.
Number one is to check your car battery to make sure that it’s keeping a charge as well as checking your anti-freeze system for proper freeze protection.
“In the winter months especially, you'll get extra tire leaks around the aluminum wheels. The pressure drops pretty significant amount when the cold compared to the warm. So the leaks, low tires, things like that probably our number one, battery freezing up and not starting vehicles,” said Jonathan Clouser, Blacks Tire Pros.
Clouser said you need to make sure you do all these to ensure safety.
