LA PLATA, MO -- Two area groups are spreading Christmas cheer to the elderly.

The La Plata Lion's Club, Oklahoma Indians Club and people in the community sang Christmas carols at the La Plata Nursing Home Friday evening.

Residents of the care center enjoyed the holiday music and even sang along.

Sharron Burns, leader of Oklahoma Indians 4-H group, said they have many service projects, but this one gets the most feedback.

"One of them is to share the joy of Christmas with residents that may by grandparents, friends, aunts and uncles. We also come back in the spring to bring animals to visit with the residents," said Burns.

She says the residents love the singing and are always asking for them.

There were about 15 people singing.
