KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- Just prior to the deadline, four people have filed as candidates for the open seat on the Kirksville City Council.

According to Vickie Brumbaugh, Kirksville City Clerk, Robert “Bob” Russell is the fourth candidate to file. Candidates who previously filed are Betty McLane-Iles, Daniel L. Branstetter and Joe Epperson.

The four are vying for the council seat vacated by Carolyn Chrisman. Chrisman stepped down from the council after accepting the position of Director of Job Creation with Kirksville Regional Economic Development Inc., or K-REDI.

The filing deadline is 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The newest Kirksville City Council member will be determined by voters April 3 in the general municipal election.
