Flooding forces road closings

MISSOURI (AP) -- Recent heavy rain has left creeks and rivers swollen around Missouri, forcing several road closings.  

The National Weather Service issued flash flood warnings for several areas in Missouri, and said moderate flooding was forecast along the Missouri River at St. Charles in eastern Missouri.

The state Department of Transportation also said several roads in western Missouri were closed Thursday because of flash flooding. The department said the closed routes were in Ray, Lafayette, Clay, Platte and Johnson counties.

Several roads were also closed in northeast Missouri because of flash flooding.
