KIRKSVILLE, MO -- We wanted to take this time to remind you to move your clocks one hour ahead before you go to bed Saturday night as Daylight Saving Time begins at 2 Sunday morning.

Daylight Saving Time (DST) in the United States is the practice of setting the clock forward by one hour during the warmer part of the year so that evenings have more daylight and mornings have less. Most areas of the United States currently observe it, the exceptions being Arizona, Hawaii and the overseas territories such as Puerto Rico.

KTVO went around Kirksville Saturday to see how people feel about Daylight Saving Time.

"I do not like it because it cuts into my work time because I'm more nocturnal, I get a lot done at night such as my chores and art. It is my most productive time," said Amanda Murray of Kirksville.

"I like falling backwards in the fall and gaining an extra hour of sleep. I do not like it in the spring. I really would like to keep falling backwards to always get an extra hour of sleep," said Kathy Gordon of Kirksville.

A few people did say that they do enjoy the idea of having more hours of daylight even though they lose one hour of sleep.

This would also be a good time to check the batteries in your smoke detectors.
