OTTUMWA, IOWA -- During the recent winter storms, grocery store lines have been especially long with everyone preparing to be stuck inside.

And for those that may not be able to afford groceries, right now is when the Food Bank of Southern Iowa needs donations of such things as soup, cereal and peanut butter to name a few.

“Yeah we're seeing an increase again. Our stock is a little better than it has been but the demand is still high so you know, we're keeping up with it at this point in time. We're really low on cereal at this point. We can always use cereal, it's one of the things our agencies really ask for when we don't have and more or less beg us to have it,” said Neal Abbot, Executive Director of Food Bank of Southern Iowa.
