KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- Vicente Soto, 25, of Kirksville, lead law enforcement authorities on a high-speed chase through Macon, Linn, and Livingston counties.

According to court papers, Soto stole a stretch limousine from a Kirksville business. Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers say they received a report of a vehicle southbound on U.S. Highway 63 from LaPlata driving in a careless manner.  A trooper spotted the limo and clocked it going 80 miles per hour.  The trooper, with lights and siren on followed the car down to Highway 36 where the driver turned west. The pursuit on Highway 36 reached speeds between 80 and 120 miles per hour.

Stop sticks were put out on Highway 36 near Marceline to attempt to stop the limo, but that was unsuccessful. The pursuit continued through Linn County and into Livingston County, where stop sticks were deployed again and this time flattening three tires. Soto was taken into custody without incident.

Several items of drug paraphernalia were found in the vehicle. After Soto was given a breathalyzer test he was found to be over the legal limit.

Soto is charged with felony counts of first degree tampering with a motor vehicle, and resisting arrest by fleeing. He also faces misdemeanor counts of careless and imprudent driving, driving while intoxicated and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held under $25,000 cash only bond.  Possible additional charges are pending in Adair County in connection with the incident.
