The multicultural affairs center at Truman State University is hosting its annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Collegiate Challenge January 21st. It's for a great cause and honors the teachings of Martin Luther King, Jr.
“Important things that he used to say when he was alive that life's most persistent and urgent question is what are you doing for others and so the MLK day of service collegiate challenge is a way for people to provide service to the communities that they live in to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King.” Said, Bertha Thomas.
Not only is it a great networking event, but also upholds Kirksville's slogan "Where people make the difference."
“And by the end of the day they will have gotten to know the community better gotten to know each other better and really knowing that they have the self satisfaction of knowing that they gave the most precious thing that they have their time, their energy, their love, and their commitment to make the community a better place. I love it!” Said, Bertha Thomas.

After the Martin Luther King, Jr. Collegiate Challenge, on January 21st, there will be a reflection dinner at the Student Union Building in the Georgian room from 4pm to 5 pm.
“At that reflection dinner, there will be all the volunteers and they will tell what they have done in the community. There will be a really engaging 15 minute presentation by our Truman theater students. They'll give a performance of some of the people who shaped social justice and great food.” Said, Bertha Thomas.
