KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- It’s a night of good food, live entertainment and a chance to celebrate chamber members.

Thursday night at The Days Inn was the 2013 Kirksville Area Chamber of Commerce "Sparkle and Shine" Banquet.

Executive Director Sandra Williams said this is a time when they can come and celebrate their members and also talk about what they accomplished during the year.

Williams said the banquet is also a good time to talk about what's coming up. But, Williams said that's not the best part!

“Just the opportunity to dress up and come out,” Williams said. “Sometimes we see folks that we don’t see throughout the year, so it’s a good opportunity.”

The banquet also gave a Lifetime Achievement Award and a People Choice Award.

The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Century 21-Whitney Agency and the People Choice Award went to the Adair County SB40 Board.

Williams said she can sum up Century 21-Whitney Agency in three words, “They are givers.”

“They give their input in community projects,” Williams said. “They give their time to serve on standing committees, on planning committees and at events. They give their support (financially), but even more importantly by showing up to help whenever we ask.”

And, she said SB40 are fantastic people and provides a variety of services to those who need it the most.

“This organization has grown over the last couple of years to a staff of 15 serving over 300 individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. Their employees truly care about the people they work with and want to help them live the best lives possible.”
