KIRKSVILLE, MO -- For the eighth year... Kirksville residents came to dip in freezing cold water all for a great cause.

The annual Polar Plunge event took place in Kirksville Saturday afternoon.

The theme for 2013 was "Take A Plunge On The Wild Side."

Over 25 groups dressed up in a certain theme before plugging themselves in the icy waters of Forest Lake at Thousand Hills State Park to help raise money for the Special Olympics of Missouri.

A few KTVO personalities including Justin Andrews, Ela Soroka, and Scott Kellum participated in Saturday's event.

Awards were given out to the best costume group and the group that raised the most donations.
