OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Central Park in Ottumwa is going to be a busy place Friday evening. First, Live After Five is going to be taking place featuring the band, American Pie. Second, the Kiwanis Club of Ottumwa will be hosting their annual pork dinner to benefit the Ottumwa Public Library.

The library has been benefiting from this fundraiser for the past eight years. According to Kiwanis Club members, over $35,000 has been donated through the dinner.

“We feel like the library is a huge part of our community. Anybody can use it. It is free. It is wonderful that we can help children anywhere, but we just feel like a library is especially important because of everything they do, and all of the programs that they have there for the kids,” said Teri Ortgies with the Kiwanis Club of Ottumwa

Tickets can be purchased at the Ottumwa Public Library, or at the event itself. The cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children. For more information on the Ottumwa Public Library, click here.
