The Missouri FFA Association recognized Kelsey Eitel of the Milan FFA Chapter as Area 3 Star Farmer at the 84th Missouri FFA Convention. Her parents are Paul and Deanna Eitel of Milan, Mo. Her advisors are Jack Green and Jarred Sayre.

Area Star Farmers are chosen based upon outstanding production agriculture in the student’s Supervised Agricultural Experience and active participation in FFA. Area 3 includes 22 chapters in the Northeast District.

MFA Inc., Columbia, sponsors the 16 area Star Farmer awards and the State Star Farmer Award.

Eitel’s SAE began with a set of triplet doe kids that she received as a present for her third birthday. Her goat operation has grown to 59 and she is focused on improving the quality of her operations by making selective breeding choices.

Eitel served as the assistant secretary, secretary, and president of her chapter. She competed in the horse evaluation career development event, receiving a group 1 rating at state, and in the dairy cattle evaluation CDE. Eitel also won three area proficiencies including specialty animal, equine science placement and equine science entrepreneurship. She attended Washington Leadership Conference in 2011.

In addition to FFA, Eitel participated in the Future Business Leaders of America, and student council, and basketball.

After graduation, Eitel plans to attend college to study accounting and equine science. Eitel plans to use her accounting for recordkeeping and continue to manage her equine and beef cattle operations.

The Missouri FFA has 25,760 members representing 327 chapters. The national organization has more than 540,000 members representing 7,489 local chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
