FAIRFIELD, IOWA -- The Fairfield Square livened up Saturday evening as residents enjoyed the city's free summer concert series.

The concert goers purchased pork sandwiches and sweet corn, while listening to the country tunes of Whisky Moon and the funky beat of The Downstairs Mix-Up.  Those who attended, like Boone resident Don Lester, say it was a great getaway from the heat.

"It was hot today [Saturday] and it's cool to sit down here under the trees and just enjoy some good music," said Don Lester. "You'd hope that every town gets to experience it. It'd be nice if we had something like this in town."

"My kids love it up here and the bands are nice. They have some good food," said Kirsten Schubick, a Fairfield resident.

The dinner proceeds will be evenly distributed among the Elks Lodge, the Eagles Club, and the Live on the Square committee. The next summer concert is on August 20th. It will feature 80's music from The Beaker Brothers Band.
