OTTUMWA, IOWA -- The job opening for a media and publicity coordinator for both the American Gothic House in Eldon and the Ottumwa Area Convention and Visitor's bureau has been filled.

Brian Chambers of Eddyville, Iowa will start in the new position next week.

The Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs offered an $8,000 grant to Wapello County for the position, and the Wapello County Supervisors provided an additional $2,000.

The supervisors are confident that Chambers will bring increased revenue and crowds to the two entities.

"He has newspaper experience and he has a good personality, just was very familiar with media in general and we're confident Brian will do a great job for us," Steve Siegel said.

Chambers will split his time between Eldon and the Convention and Visitor's Bureau in Ottumwa. He will largely be responsible for handling social media and other tools to promote events and activities.
