ST.LOUIS (AP) -- Sixteen years after Dan Coleman was killed, his wife and a suburban St. Louis firefighter face charges related to the crime.

Forty-nine-year-old James Kornhardt and 54-year-old Karen Coleman were charged yesterday with one count of conspiracy to commit murder for hire and one count of murder for hire.

The indictment says that Karen Coleman wanted her husband killed for insurance money and asked a man, who has since died, to make the arrangements. Kornhardt allegedly was recruited to commit the murder.

Karen Coleman collected at least $60,000 from Coleman's employer and insurance policies after his 1992 killing.

Both suspects were in jail today and unavailable for comment.

A spokeswoman for the Department of Justice did not know if either had attorneys.
