ADAIR COUNTY, MO. -- Around noon Monday, fire crews were called to the Brenda Walter residence on Love Trail in extreme southwest Adair County.

Firefighters told me Walter discovered the fire while she was outside feeding her pigs, when she noticed smoke filtering through the roof.

It took around a dozen firefighters two hours to put out the fire, but not before the structure burned to the ground.

No people were hurt, but firefighters told me today's blaze killed five of Walter’s dogs. The dogs were in pens near the house.

The cause is officially listed as undetermined, but fire investigators say it was likely started by an electrical problem.

The Red Cross is providing aid to Walter.
