KIRKSVILLE, MO --

A few Kirksville residents learned something about their artistic side.

Painter Nyle Gordon of Kansas City taught a two day workshop on oil painting at the Kirksville Arts Center over the weekend.

About 10 students learned techniques such as color mixing and brushing to help them make their own landscape, portrait, or still life paintings.

This was Gordon's first time teaching the class here in Kirksville and called this a memorable experience.

"They've had different levels of experience before. Some have not painted in a while and are getting back into it. I have just been tickled with their process. They have been painting along and getting into it. I'm very pleased," Gordon said.

Gordon has also taught oil painting techniques in Macon.
