KIRKSVILLE, MO. --
It is not every day you see several doctors walking around the hospital with bald heads...including women.

Several friends and colleagues of Tim Ernst, D.O. at Northeast Regional Medical Center, whom he calls family, went beyond just saying they are there for him, they showed him.

“We decided to shave our heads in support of our friend and colleague … who's undergoing chemotherapy at the present time,“ Curtis Roof, D.O. said.

“It was about four or five of us in the beginning that talked about doing this, and it's just spread like wild fire. And, the reason for that is because we all think so much of Tim. He's just like family. We’re all like family here at the health center, and we're behind him 100 percent.”

Ernst said there are no words to describe how much this means to him.

“I’m truly blessed and honored,” Ernst said. “There are no words to describe how fortunate I feel to have all the family members here that have done this for me.”

There were more than 15 doctors who shaved their heads and Ernst said interns have as well.
