KIRKSVILLE, MO -- With the second winter storm in less than a week set to hit the city of Kirksville, the Public Works Department is once again prepared for what mother nature is bringing our way.

Public Works Director John Buckwalter said Monday that all the snow plows have been cleaned up and checked out, snow piles have been moved, and crews are putting salt down on city streets ahead of the winter storm.

The city has declared a snow emergency that will take effect Monday night at midnight.

Once again city officials are asking residents for their cooperation.

"If you are on an emergency snow route, please move your car. We made the announcement early enough to give people enough time to find some other place to park. Most of the parking lots are clear so people can find a place to park instead of on the street," Buckwalter said.

Once again Kirksville's snow emergency will go into effect at midnight.

All parked cars must be removed from any street designated an "emergency snow route" by 2 a.m.
