KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- A group whose job it is to bring economic development to the area just recruited more help.

Kirksville Regional Economic Development, Incorporated (K-REDI) recently finished up a membership drive, and those in charge call it a very successful campaign.

During the drive, more than 20 new members joined K-REDI.

Burt Beard, the new president of the K-REDI Board, told KTVO what the new additions mean for the organization.

"Basically what we're doing is promoting economic development in northeast Missouri, specifically Kirksville, and the more members we have, the better we can do that," said Beard.

Beard said that while K-REDI’s official membership drive may be over, recruiting new members is something that needs to take place year-round.

Those attending Monday’s K-REDI meeting looked over a draft of the 2013 Operational Plan and provided input.

Members will continue to go over the plan at home and submit further recommendations, changes or suggestions.
