KIRKSVILLE, MO -- A Kirksville man is now behind bars.

25-year-old Chad Weis faces one count of receiving stolen property, one count of resisting or interfering with a felony arrest, and one count of sale or possession of equipment or parts with altered identification numbers.

Those charges come after Weis and another man were allegedly acting suspicious on a moped, early Saturday morning.

Police began following Weis and the other subject in the Kirksville downtown area, just before the 2 o'clock hour. The pair were reportedly making evasive manuevers.

Before losing control and crashing into the porch of a house, the passenger--not driving the moped, stepped off, then immediately complied with police.

Weis sped away and eventually ran on foot and was later caught.

The moped was found to have been reported stolen back in January. Police also discovered 7.2 grams of pseudoephedrine on Weis, more than twice the legal limit.

Weis is being held in the Adair County Jail on a $25,000 cash only bond.
