OTTUMWA, IOWA -- A kidnapping charge has been dropped against a man accused of holding a 17-year-old girl at knifepoint.

Abraham Barraza had been charged with second degree kidnapping after the incident in December. That charge was dropped during a preliminary hearing in court earlier this week.

Wapello County Attorney Lisa Holl told KTVO that her office wants more time to look into and review the case. The charge could be refiled in the future.

Holl says Barraza is still in jail as of Thursday morning. He has pending charges of driving while barred, domestic abuse and assault still against him.
