MT. PLEASANT, IOWA -- An Ottumwa man is behind bars in Henry County, accused of harboring a runaway child.
The Henry County Sheriff’s Office says on January 3, they received a report of a 13-year old runaway from Salem, Iowa. The young teenager was located in Kansas City, Missouri a couple days later, accompanied by Keith Lane Davis-Sauer, 19, of Ottumwa.
Henry County Sheriff Rich McNamee told KTVO Friday that the child has been returned to Salem; and Davis-Sauer was taken into custody for harboring a runaway child.
According to the sheriff’s office, Davis-Sauer was already under investigation in Henry County in a separate case, charged with two counts of Sexual Abuse in the 3rd Degree.
Currently, Davis-Sauer is being held in the Henry County Jail on a $26,500 bond.
Davis-Sauer is no stranger to the law. In September of 2012, he was charged with harassment by communication and indecent exposure in Dickinson County. Then, in October, he was charged with harboring a runaway in Dickinson County.
Assisting the Henry County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation were members from the Wapello County Sheriff’s Office.
