TRENTON, MO -- One Heartland solider got a chance to be a part of something big on Saturday. So big, it was watched by people from all over the world.

The U.S. Army All-American Bowl is the nation's premier high school football game, featuring the best 90 players in a classic East vs. West match-up every January in San Antonio's Alamo Dome.

Sgt. Brandon Faubion of the 101st ABN Division Sabalauski Air Assault Rappel Demonstration Team and a native of Trenton, Missouri was a part of a safety team who descended from 180 feet from the dome's ceiling to the ground into the All American Bowl to bring in the game ball.

"Insuring that my battle buddies descend to the ground safely. If they lose control, I'm there to make sure i can slow them down and get them safely on the ground," Faubion said.

As a member of the rappel team, Faubion also trains other Army soldiers on this skill.

"What we are assigned to do is teach students the fundamentals and techniques of rappelling so that they can go back to their units and share with their units and share with their fellow soldiers what we do and help make a stronger army," Faubion said.

Despite all the long hours and hard work, this graduate of Trenton High School says it's all worth it.

"It's huge to me. I would have never imagined in high school that I would be here at the Alamo Dome getting interviewed and sharing my experience with the world of what I have done," Faubion said.

Faubion said that he is very proud to be serving his country while representing the Show Me State. He is stationed right now in Kentucky with his team.
