OTTUMWA, IOWA -- It’s the second day of January and many of us have decided what our New Year’s Resolutions are going to be.

A couple of the most common ones are losing weight and exercising more, which means gym memberships at this time of year are at an all time high.

Over at the Ottumwa YMCA, there is definitely more of a crowd coming in to workout.

“Certainly you see some of that. Some people come in with different expectations. They want to see immediate results or whatever but hopefully they get involved, get active in a class or a program. They start to meet people, they start to have fun and they realize, 'you now, this is a great place all year round’ and they stay. So that's what our goal is is to get people involved, get them engaged over here at the Y,” said Tom Sisler, Ottumwa YMCA Executive Director.

“We're looking forward to the next three months where people make their resolutions. They're going to be healthy. They come join us,” said Andrea McDowell.

There are a lot of programs going on at the Ottumwa YMCA including a new workout class called Ripped which is kicking off its first class next week.
