OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Even though it is only January, seniors at Ottumwa High School are gearing up for life after graduation.
Many students have already completed their college applications and scholarship applications; however, in the coming months, students and their parents will have the opportunity to start filling out their FASFA applications. The FASFA is an application for students to receive student loans through the federal government.
“You and I talked earlier about FASFA; and students applying for loans at this point, and that needs to be done as well. Our counseling staff will take parents through that, specifically if they have questions about it. We have nights planned up here at the high school for parents and seniors to come up and find out information about that; and how to get ready for that first year of college,” said Mark Hanson, Principal of Ottumwa High School.
Hanson added that he will be talking to the senior class in the coming weeks about making sure they have everything that they need in order to graduate.
You can find more information about the FASFA here, including the different types of student loans offered to college students.
