MACON, MO. -- Traffic crash and enforcement totals for the Christmas and New Year’s counting periods were released on Wednesday from the Missouri State Highway Patrol for the Troop B area.
During the Christmas counting period, which began at 6 p.m., Friday, December 21, and ended at 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, December 25, 2012, Troop B officers investigated 21 traffic crashes, which resulted in six injuries and no fatalities. Troopers also made three arrests for driving while intoxicated.
During the New Year’s counting period, which began at 6 p.m., Friday, December 28, and ended at 11:59 p.m., on Tuesday, January 1, 2013, Troop B officers investigated 26 traffic crashes, which resulted in two fatalities and nine injuries. The fatality traffic crashes occurred in Chariton and Clark counties. Troopers also made seven arrests for driving while intoxicated during the holiday period.
“Even though the holiday season has concluded, I urge motorists to always take the job of driving seriously and always ensure everyone in your vehicle is wearing a seat belt,” said Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon.
