OTTUMWA, IOWA -- With the New Year just days away, many people have set their New Year’s Resolutions. However, by February it’s estimated that 60 to 70% of people will have already given up on those resolutions.

But, you do not have to be part of that statistic.

There are ways to achieve whatever goal you set by making it realistic and not making it out of reach.

And one of the most common New Year’s Resolutions are eating healthy and losing weight.

“Setting goals maybe months at a time versus an entire year. If your goal is to lose 50 pounds in 2013, that's a big number. Starting out in January, looking at it as five pounds or 10 pounds in January and then reevaluating in February makes that a whole lot easier,” said Heather Ware, South Ottumwa Hy-Vee Dietician.

Ware added that if your goal is to lose weight, do not cut out an entire food group but rather find healthier alternatives.

And that is something Ware can help people out with; you can set up an appointment with Ware and she will take you on an aisle by aisle tour of healthy food items.
