Man with machete accused of chasing woman

OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Ottumwa Police officers responded to a residence on South Adams Street Tuesday night after an unusual disturbance was reported.

When officers arrived, it was reported that a female at the residence had been assaulted and forcibly removed by an individual who was armed with a machete. Officers were able to locate the victim and suspect a short time later.

Abraham Anthony Barraza, 30, of Ottumwa, was arrested and charged with Kidnapping 2nd Degree, a class “B” Felony.  He is currently being held in the Wapello County Jail on a $100,000.00 cash only bond.

Barraza also had outstanding arrest warrants charging him with Serious Assault and Serious Domestic Abuse stemming from an incident that occurred at the same residence on Adams Street Monday.
