Third time not a charm for DWI suspect

ADAIR COUNTY, MO. -- Another drunk driving arrest lands a Heartland man behind bars.
   
Shannon Walters, 41, of Novinger, is charged with DWI alcohol as a persistent offender. He was also charged with driving without a valid license for the third time. Walters has two previous drunk driving convictions, both in Adair County. He also has two previous convictions for driving without a valid license. He is being held in the Adair County jail under $10,000 cash only bond.
   
According to court papers, Walters crossed the centerline and was stopped by a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper. Walters then failed several field sobriety tests.

During his arraignment Wednesday, Walters requested a bond reduction, which was taken under advisement. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on January 9.
