KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- If you haven't mailed your holiday packages yet, it might be too late.

Monday is expected to be the busiest mail delivery day of the year for the United States Postal Service.

The postmaster in Kirksville tells KTVO it will be a late day and a long week for postal workers.

“Got a lot of packages today just all that residual stuff from Cyber Monday coming in and all the packages that families have shipped to their family members in Kirksville. At this point you're pushing it. Priority mail will most likely still get there, anything slower than that, probably not,” said Greg Stiner, Kirksville Postmaster.

Some postal workers even arrived before 4 a.m. Monday.

Stiner tells us you can expect your mail to be delivered later than usual this week.

The post office will have extra staffing and even worked on Sunday to ensure a smooth holiday delivery period.
